Lauren's Bithday Package
I am totally amazed. I mailed an almost 12 pound package to London last Thursday 3/16/06 and it actually already arrived yesterday 3/20/06, in time for Lauren's (boltus) birthday which is today 3/21.

Happy Birthday Dolly!

Thank god this was faster than the last package which took 3 weeks!!!!

Mailing Internationally
I am so pissed. On 1/24/06 I mailed a package to Lauren and the man at the post office assured me that she would have it between Saturday 1/28/06 and Tuesday 1/31/06 and she hasn't received it yet. There is an AFC championship T-shirt for her to wear while watching the Superbowl along with some other things she "needed". Here is what the USPS tracking system says:

Status: International Dispatch

Your item left the United States from N. J. BULK at 9:18 pm on January 29, 2006. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

I hope it arrives tomorrow as that is the last chance she has to pick it up before the game on Sunday.

I did successfully send her a copy of the "Here we go" song, at least that was successful. Amazing!

Test Score
You scored as Cultural Creative.

Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

Mailing my first international package!
Well i checked the cost between UPS and USPS and they was no choice, USPS was the only way to go. I mailed the package today and they said it would arrive between this Saturday and next Tuesday. I told them as long as it gets there before the Super Bowl everything will be good.

While the young, pierced postal working was helping me we were talking. So I of course was telling him about Lauren being in London studying abroad. Everyone in the post office was listening and commenting so I decided to tell them about where her apartment building was located. When I said the Iraqi Embassy was on one side of her building there was general disapproval.......and then a little more from one man. He was immediately very verbal about being around any people that were Muslims. Well too late of course, I took a good look at him - probably around my age, gray hair (crew cut), cover all jeans, very large and extremely well build. He was giving me advise to pass on to Lauren about being safe in foreign countries according to his experiences. Low and behold, he is a military man. Right now he has a medical problem. I kept trying to not have to talk to him any more and couldn't get him to stop. There were about 12 or 15 other people in the post office along with us and I just wanted him to stop talking to me, but I had no luck. What fun. Some of what he was saying could have been offensive to one of the other people in there but no one said anything. I was just glad to have mailed the package and to leave the post office....hopefully never to see my military friend again!

I also had the plumber here today so my water in the laundry tubs is now draining. There was some bad plumbing news also. He told me I have to replace the pipes under the cement that run from my laundry tubs to the main drain. They appear to be caving in and he said that if I wait until they wont drain the next time, he probably won't be able to get them running without replacing them. Cost? Well could be a couple of thousand, yuk!

Well enough fun for one day.

Something New
Well this is something new for me. My grandson spent the night and we are now watching Harry Potter, Prizoner of Azcaban, he really likes it. Can't wait for the Steeler game at 3p. All things considered this will be a nice day even though I miss my Dolly.
